From family farmland to an award-winning mixed-use community
The Bissell Companies Inc. is widely recognized as the principal developer of Ballantyne, one of the Southeast’s largest and most successful mixed use communities. Under the inspirational leadership of visionary developer Smoky Bissell, Ballantyne celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2016.
In March 2017, Northwood Investors, a global real estate investment and management firm, acquired most of Bissell’s Ballantyne portfolio.

Since 2017, Northwood Office has owned and managed daily operations of 535 acres of the Ballantyne® campus. Northwood Office was established by Northwood Investors – a privately-held, global real estate investment and management firm – to provide a complete approach to fulfilling office space needs.
The office platform also has properties across the U.S. in major markets like Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, Durham, Miami, Nashville and Seattle.
