Fly Kid Fly, an innovative new coffee shop concept from HEX Coffee Roasters and Durban Hospitality, is now open at The Bowl at Ballantyne™. With the tagline “Coffee + Atmosphere” FKF is focused on providing intentional, high-quality service, while creating a convivial, imaginative, and friendly atmosphere for all to enjoy. Being a North Carolina-based company, Fly Kid Fly’s name is both a nod to the Wright Brothers and a reminder to keep your head in the clouds.
The vision behind Fly Kid Fly comes from Co-Owner and Operating Partner Madison Currie, an L.A. native who has called Charlotte home since 2017. With years of experience in the L.A. market and a passion for the coffee industry, Madison’s intention is to break down barriers people can often feel walking into high end shops with a smile, so that customers leave with not only a great cup of coffee but a better day.
“‘Coffee + Atmosphere.’ We chose this tagline because it’s a simple equation for an incredible coffee experience,” said Madison. “If we have guests come into our shop for even a few minutes and nail those two things, it will send them on their way in an upward trajectory. And that’s the goal - Fly Kid Fly.”
Guests can expect the traditional menu favorites (vanilla lattes, cappuccinos, filter coffee), while adding creative and colorful signature beverages that will challenge expectations for coffee service. There will even be menu items created specifically for kids that will inspire their imaginations and bring them into the experience. A carefully curated food menu will consist of various west coast-style breakfast burritos from the hand of Hector Gonzalez (Chilitos, Noche Bruta).
Fly Kid Fly falls at the center of the hustle and bustle of The Bowl at Ballantyne, located next to Honeysuckle Gelato in an 802-square-foot space. Inside the space is a vibrant atmosphere of bold color, creative design, and vibey music reverberating in the background. The service is streamlined around a curved bar, offering the opportunity to relax on a bench while orders are made, find a seat at the window bar, conversate at wavy booths stretching the length of the space, or enjoy any of the exterior patio seating wrapping around the building. Mobile ordering will also be available, with a designated door and pickup shelves for those in a hurry.
