The Amp
The Northwood team expects to host three large-scale, national-headlining concerts in the fall, plus a mix of new food and drink festivals, complementing what’s already being offered in Ballantyne’s Backyard and what’s forthcoming at Brixham Park on the west side of the campus.
“The Amp Ballantyne™ will allow us to take existing programs up a notch and expand the initiatives we’ve already launched with CREATE Ballantyne, bringing more arts and culture to South Charlotte,” said Hailey Rorie, director of community relations for Northwood Office.
In 2022, Blumenthal Performing Arts brought over 50 installations and events to Ballantyne’s Backyard for the Charlotte International Arts Festival. Looking ahead, the arts organization is considering the 3,500-person amphitheater as its central backdrop for the second annual event. The community can also expect other art initiatives like Charlotte is Creative’s well-known CreativeMornings/Charlotte program, local performances, markets and more.
To further expand its daytime offerings, Northwood will utilize The Amp Ballantyne™ space for food truck pop-ups, weekly fitness classes and outdoor workshops. A new holiday experience is also being planned to accompany the Carolina Holiday Light Spectacular, which will return to the Backyard this December.
The Amp Ballantyne™ also comes with its own logo, website and social media platforms. Inspired by the architecture and roof design, the logo features a modern retro badge that sets the stage for the expected nightlife scene to come while complementing the other Ballantyne brands.
